The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

Susie Salmon, a 14 year old girl, is murdered on December 6, 1973. “It was still back when people believed things like that didn’t happen.” You first find Susie up in her heaven, and bit by bit she tells you the story of how she was murdered. She watches the life she once knew go on without her. Susie looks down on her former world and at her family and as they find out she’s missing, and try to solve the complicated mystery of her disappearance. Susie herself also struggles with the fact that she is gone from earth, and cannot help her family find her killer. Although at first I was nervous that this would be too gory of a book, as I got into it, I realized it wasn’t all about murder; it was about hope, and coping with the loss of a loved one. This book also has a creepy air to it, fitting in a good mystery. The setting of this book is in the suburbs, a normal place to lice, which makes this story much more believable. All mystery lovers would like this book; it’s a fast read, full of suspense. I would give this book a four out of five.

  10. I read this book on a Nook, and it was 900 pages.
It took me so long to read, that I hated it. I found it to be depressing and that it didn't progress well. But maybe I read a different version, because this seems to be a lot shorter and sweeter. I hope it's better. Perhaps I'll read it.
