The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

“Winning means fame and fortune. Losing means certain death. The hunger games have begun…” The novel, the Hunger Games is about a 16-year-old girl called Katniss having to go to the Hunger Games after volunteering for her young sister who was selected. There are 12 districts. In each district, a boy and a girl are selected to compete in the Hunger Games. The setting takes place in the future United States, but instead of states, there are districts and the capitol. The capitol hosts the games in which twelve to eighteen year old children have to fight to the death in a huge arena. The games are then broadcasted to all the districts and it is mandatory to watch them. Some wealthy citizens called sponsors are allowed to intervene in the games and buy them food and supplies. These sponsors help Katniss survive throughout the Hunger Games, though in order to get them she must pretend to be in a romantic relationship with the boy in her district. Although like most novels they are somewhat boring in the beginning, but during the middle and end the story becomes very intriguing. This book is an action and semi romantic book, so I recommend this book to people who like this kind of genre. In the story, the characters are very realistic and believable. Overall, I really enjoyed The Hunger Games because of the action and constant suspense at the end of the novel.

  1. This book looks really cool, and
I plan to read it soon. It seems like it would be very suspenseful with the games, but the romance might make it a little more realistic to life.
