Of Mice and Men, by Jon Steinbeck

George an Lennie are somewhat of an unusual pair. George, a small, level-headed man, and Lennie, a giant of a man with the mind of a child. In John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, the reader is taken on a journey through the lives of two early nineteenth century, hardworking men. On the way, you will meet many different characters with very different personalities. But, will Lennies immaturity get them in trouble? This is a slow book with fanominal detail and a superb storyline. The author really paints a picture in the mind of the reader, " A few miles south of Solidad, the Salinas River drops in close to the hillside bank and runs deep and green. The water is warm too, for it has slipped twinkling over the yellow sands in the sunlight before reaching the narrow pool"(1). Steinbeck really makes you feel like you're on of the characters, watching the story unfold right in front of you. The characters in the story are so realistic, as if the are real people. The vividness of their pesonalities make te reader feel as if they have known them all their life. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book with magnificint detail and who wants to get connected to the characters.
